Cyclone Debbie, presently designated a Category 4 Tropical Cyclone, has made landfall today near Bowen in Northern Queensland.
As Cyclone Debbie advances we expect a range of extreme weather conditions lasting at least throughout the day. Power blackouts have already been reported and we are anticipating considerable damage to homes, businesses and vehicles.
Ensure your safety and your family’s safety
Our first concern is for the safety and well-being of our customers. Please do not attempt to assess damage to your property or vehicles until you have received official advice from government and emergency services that it is safe to leave your house or shelter.
What we are doing to help you
We have implemented our Emergency Response Plan to ensure we are in the best possible position to assist you. Our actions include:
Minimising disruption to you
- Putting additional staff resources on standby to lodge claims
- Mobilising and deploying the Allianz Emergency Response Vehicle to Bowen later this week (subject to available access). Customers will be able to lodge a new claim, provide or receive information on an existing claim and organise emergency accommodation or other needs
- Organising with our out-of-hours partners to ensure customers can lodge a claim 24/7
- Liaising closely with our partner Loss Adjusters to provide timely assistance on property claims
Cyclone Debbie may mean we receive more claims calls than we would normally. To minimise any potential disruption, we have activated ‘Virtual Hold’, our automated callback system offering you the option of a call back from the next available claims consultant.
What you’ll need to lodge your claim
Our Claims Teams stand ready to respond to all affected customers. There are two ways to lodge:
Online at allainz.com.au/claims.html
Over the phone on 13 10 13
Remember, you can lodge your claim either online or over the phone 24/7 hours a day, 7 days a week.
