Arranged exclusively through insurance brokers

We care about Australian farmers and understand events beyond your control can disrupt your business and your livelihood — a hailstorm, a machinery breakdown, an accident on the property.

To support you, Allianz offers farm insurance for hobby farms and working farms of all sizes across Australia. Crop insurance is offered through our trusted partner, Primacy, for broadacre, cotton and sugar cane growers.

Both products are arranged through an insurance broker, who helps you understand your options and finds the right cover.

Allianz Farm Pack is a flexible farming insurance policy for both hobby farms and working farms, big and small. We offer covers that suit your farm - from buildings and contents through to machinery, vehicles, and liability.

Allianz Farm Pack is made up of 5 sections. You can select the covers your farm needs:

  1.  Home property
  2. Cover for your farmhouse, including buildings, contents and personal belongings.
  3.  Farm property
  4. Cover for loss or damage to a wide range of your farm assets, including buildings, fencing, machinery, hay, grain, livestock and more. This section also includes cover for theft, general property, land transit (goods and livestock in transit), working dogs, and other covered items.
  5.  Public and products liability
  6. Cover for your legal liability for injury to others or damage to their property caused by your farming business.
  7.  Motor vehicles
  8. Cover for private and farm motor vehicles, including tractors and farm machinery.
  9.  Engineering
  10. Cover for machinery breakdown and electronic or computer equipment breakdown used on your farm.

Allianz farm insurance covers hobby farms generating up to $50,000 a year in turnover from primary production (if any) on properties up to 50 hectares. It also covers larger working farms across Australia.

Read the Farm Pack Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) (PDF, 1.4 MB) before deciding if this insurance is right for you.

Farm insurance isn't one-size-fits-all. A broker takes the time to understand your farming operation, the risks you face, and the cover you need — then finds the right solution for you. Farm insurance costs are individually assessed based on a range of factors, so having a broker's expertise makes a real difference. They act on your behalf and can help you compare options with confidence.

Crop insurance helps protect your income when fire or hail damages your crop and reduces your yield. For broadacre, cotton and sugar cane growers, crop insurance is available through Primacy — our trusted partner, and Australia's agricultural insurance specialist.

Primacy is an agent of Allianz Australia - one of Australia's largest general insurers. Specialist knowledge, backed by global strength.

Primacy offers a range of policies for broadacre, cotton and sugar cane. They’re designed around your crop and season.

Primacy offers three crop insurance policies, each designed around the specific risks of your crop type. You arrange cover on a seasonal basis, and apply each growing season.

Cover for loss of potential yield caused by hail, fire, or both. With hail and fire combined cover, additional benefits include harvested grain and baled hay in storage and transit, chemical overspray, straying livestock damage, and firefighting costs. A replant subsidy is also available where replanting is the best course of action following a total loss early in the season.

Cover for loss of potential yield caused by hail, or hail and fire, and is available for irrigated, semi-irrigated and dryland cotton. Additional benefits include chemical overspray and additional expenses.

Cover is available for loss of potential yield caused by fire or hail. It includes additional benefits for firefighting costs, additional working costs to minimise an insured loss, and harvested sugar cane in transit to the mill.

Good to know: Policies cover loss of potential yield caused by specific insured events such as fire and hail. Drought and flood are not covered events under these policies.

For full details of cover, limits and exclusions, read the relevant Policy wording on the Primacy website

Crop insurance is complex and seasonal — the right cover depends on your crop type, growing region, yield history, and the risks specific to your operation. A broker understands these variables and acts on your behalf to arrange the cover that fits your business.

Farm insurance covers the physical assets of your farm — buildings, machinery, vehicles, equipment and more. It also covers your legal liability for injury to others or damage to their property caused by your farming business. Crop insurance covers loss of yield from your standing crop caused by specific insured events like fire or hail. At Allianz, farm insurance is offered through our Farm Pack policy. Crop insurance is offered through our trusted partner, Primacy, who specialises solely in agricultural insurance.

Allianz farm insurance covers property damage from a range of causes including fire, storm, wind, hail, lightning, earthquake, impact damage, and malicious acts. It's important to note that flood is not covered under the Farm Pack policy. Read the Farm Insurance PDS (PDF, 1.4 MB) for full details of covered events, limits and exclusions.

Allianz farm insurance does not cover standing crops or loss of yield. For crop cover, Allianz partners with Primacy, an agricultural insurance specialist with over 30 years’ experience. Primacy offers seasonal crop insurance for broadacre, cotton, and sugar cane growers. Speak to a broker to find out more.

Under Allianz Farm Pack, a hobby farm is defined as a property with a turnover of less than $50,000, if any, from primary production farming activities, regardless of whether this constitutes your main source of income or not. The activities are done on agricultural land that doesn’t exceed 50 hectares, and there are any of the following on the property - farm buildings, farm implements, farm machinery or farm vehicles; more than six livestock, where livestock is defined as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, buffalo, deer, camels, llama and alpaca; or, agistment of animals belonging to other people is carried out. Please refer to the Farm Pack PDS (PDF, 1.4 MB), and if you're unsure whether your property qualifies, speak to your broker.

Farming businesses face a range of liability risks — from visitors and contractors on the property to the products you sell. Allianz Farm Pack includes a public and products liability section, which covers your legal liability for injury to others or damage to their property arising from your farming business. Your broker can help you decide on the right level of cover for your operation.

Allianz farm insurance doesn’t cover every risk a farming business may face such as standing crop loss or yield reduction, and livestock illness or accidental death or injury. Key exclusions include flood, war, terrorism, wear and tear, fraudulent, criminal and malicious acts by the insured or other person(s) with their knowledge or consent. If your farm has been left unattended for more than 90 consecutive days, some covers may not apply. Read the Farm Pack PDS (PDF, 1.4 MB) for a full list of exclusions, limits and conditions.

Crop loss and yield reduction are covered by crop insurance, not standard farm insurance. Allianz partners with Primacy to offer seasonal crop insurance for broadacre, cotton and sugar cane growers. Cover is available for loss of potential yield caused by hail (with an option for fire cover to be added) depending on the policy and cover type selected. Speak to a broker or contact Primacy to find out more.

Primacy offers crop insurance for three crop types: broadacre crops (including wheat, barley, oats, canola, and other grains), cotton (irrigated, semi-irrigated, and dryland), and sugar cane. Each policy is designed around the specific risks of that crop type and is arranged on a seasonal basis. For full details, visit the Primacy website.

No. Drought and flood are not covered events under Primacy crop insurance policies. Cover applies to loss of potential yield caused by fire or hail only, depending on the policy and cover type selected. If you're unsure whether your specific risk is covered, speak to your broker.

That depends on your crop type, growing region, yield history and the level of risk your business can absorb. Crop insurance can help reduce the financial impact of a significant fire or hail event on your growing season. A broker with agricultural expertise can help you weigh up the cost of cover against the risk to your business. They can also guide you through your options.

Yes, Allianz offers crop insurance through our trusted partner, Primacy — an underwriting agency specialising solely in agricultural insurance. Primacy acts as an agent of Allianz Australia and has over 30 years' experience in the agricultural sector. Crop insurance is available for broadacre, cotton and sugar cane growers, and is arranged through an insurance broker.

Primacy crop insurance covers loss of potential yield caused by fire and hail, depending on the policy and cover type selected. Broadacre and cotton policies offer cover for hail only, fire only, or hail and fire combined. Sugar cane policies cover both fire and hail, with hail limited to $1,000. Additional benefits — such as firefighting costs, chemical overspray and straying livestock damage — may also apply depending on the cover selected. Read the relevant Policy wording on the Primacy website for full details.

Crop insurance is worth considering if your income depends on a successful harvest and a single fire or hail event could significantly affect your season. It's particularly relevant for broadacre, cotton and sugar cane growers in regions exposed to severe weather. Cover is arranged seasonally, so it's important to speak to your broker before the growing season begins.
