Allianz launches new Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance for value-conscious drivers

24 March 2026

  • Allianz launches new Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance
  • Designed for people who want cover for essentials, like cover for damage to their car, without paying for extras they may not require
  • Allianz will find and allocate a dedicated, trusted repairer to manage each claim, making the process seamless for customers
  • New product is part of Allianz’s technology transformation to provide a seamless customer experience

Allianz has launched its new Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance, offering greater value and flexibility for customers1 whilst still delivering quality coverage.

The new insurance product comes at a time when consumers want the security and confidence Allianz brings - with more than 100 years’ experience insuring Australians - but also great value. Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance provides another option for customers to choose from, based on their individual needs and preferences.

Allianz Australia Chief General Manager Consumer, Shez Ford said, “We’re excited to introduce Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance – a new option for customers who want the confidence of knowing their own vehicle is covered as well as damage caused to other people's vehicles or property. By focusing on the core features like cover for collision, fire, theft, malicious damage and weather events, we may be able to offer our customers a lower premium than standard Comprehensive, based on the same excess.

“We know that not all customers value the same features equally, and that’s why we have designed our new Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance with and for our customers, offering them greater flexibility and choice in product offerings. For example, if you are insuring a second-hand car, new car replacement may not be required, therefore our Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance could suit you best.

“In addition, if our Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance customers do need to make a claim, we’ll assign a trusted repairer to manage their claim from start to finish, for a smooth and stress‑free experience. This is all part of our ongoing commitment to provide consideration and care for our customers.”

The new insurance product was made possible by Allianz Australia’s technology transformation and builds on the launch of its new global insurance platform last year.

Allianz Australia Chief Transformation Officer, Christopher Iwanowski, added, “This is a major milestone in Allianz Australia’s transformation journey and builds on the success of our award-winning home insurance, which launched last year. Allianz is focused on being a customer-centred, innovation-driven, and sustainable insurance provider, and the Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance launch targets digital-savvy direct customers who want optimised, fast and competitive insurance products.”

With both Comprehensive Essentials Car Insurance and our refreshed Comprehensive Car Insurance, customers can now select the product that’s right for them.

Comprehensive Car: Our Comprehensive Car Insurance covers your car, personal belongings (up to $1,000) and child seats (up to $650), plus damage you cause to other people's cars or property, and more, such as new car replacement2 and choice of repairer3.

Comprehensive Essentials: Our Comprehensive Essentials policy covers your car, plus damage you cause to other people's cars or property – with Allianz allocated repairer and market value cover4.

Third Party Property Damage Insurance: This helps cover the cost of accidentally damaging someone else's car or property. Damage to your own car or belongings is not covered.

  1. Comprehensive Essentials car insurance available for customers who purchase insurance directly from Allianz Australia Insurance Ltd.
  2. If your car is written off within 2 years of its manufacture, you can choose for us to pay you the agreed value or to have your new car replaced with one of the same make and model where available in Australia.
  3. If you choose your own repairer, we may need a second quote from another repairer chosen by us just to make sure the quote you've received is reasonable. We may then authorise repairs, pay you reasonable repair costs or the car’s agreed value or replace your new car where policy conditions are met.
  4. Market value means the cost to replace your car with a car of the same make, model, age and condition as your vehicle immediately prior to the loss or damage. This excludes costs and charges for registration, CTP insurance, stamp duty transfer, dealer warranty costs, transfer fees, and dealer delivery. See the PDS for more information.
