Climate resilience

Tackling climate change and lowering emissions1

Allianz Australia is addressing climate change by supporting climate preparedness and investing in long-term resilience.  We’re also reducing emissions (eg CO2) across our operations and value chain to support the transition to a low emissions economy.

If you have Buildings cover and your building is totally destroyed and needs to be rebuilt, we'll pay up to $20,000 (after the deduction of any government or council rebates) to help with the costs of installing environmental systems, such as solar power systems and rainwater tanks.

This benefit is available under most of our Home  and Landlord  Insurance products. Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement for full terms, conditions, limits and exclusions that apply.
We've got your electric vehicle (EV) covered. We offer cover for accidental damage to your EV including battery fire.2 We also cover loss or damage to charging accessories owned by you including wall mounts, charging cables, and wall charger. We work with a range of repairers selected for their expertise in EV repairs.3

Moving towards lower emissions and addressing climate change is important to us.  We’re committed to taking proactive steps to build climate resilience.

We’re working to manage climate-related risks and opportunities within our business operations, products, and services.  We assess the insurance and investment portfolios that matter most to our business against environmental, social, and governance criteria

We are aiming to reduce emissions from the energy use from our buildings and the generation of emissions from employee flights and corporate vehicles.
In 2025, we sourced the equivalent of 100% renewable electricity for our buildings from a variety of sources, including renewable energy certificates.4
We’ve partnered with the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) to launch the Sustainable Home Renovations Guide and Green Specs, an online tool to help you make your home more sustainable.

  1. Different greenhouse gases impact global warming with varying degrees of severity. Allianz Australia measure emissions using a single, common unit – the Carbon Dioxide equivalent (CO2e) - translating emissions across all gases to CO2e using methodologies defined in the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.
  2. Battery thermal runaway for EVs is covered under fire, provided there has been no deviation from manufacturer specification in relation to battery usage and charging.
  3. If you choose your own repairer, we may need a second quote from another repairer chosen by us just to make sure the quote you've received is reasonable. We may then authorise repairs, pay you reasonable repair costs or the car’s agreed value or replace your new car where policy conditions are met.
  4. Renewable energy certificates (REC) are a market-based instrument that provide assurance that the equivalent energy unit flowing into the power grid comes from renewable energy.  RECs are administered by the Australian Government Clean Energy Regulator.
Allianz acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work across Australia. We pay our respect to First Nations Elders past and present.
