Allianz Australia has picked up two major awards at last night’s 2017 Australian Insurance Industry Awards.
Allianz took out the Large General Insurance Company of the Year category for the second consecutive year as well as the Insurance Learning Program of the Year at the 14th annual awards.
Hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and Asia Insurance Review in Sydney, the awards recognise outstanding individuals and businesses in the insurance industry.
Allianz Australia Managing Director Niran Peiris said he pleased to win the awards and that they were testament to the continuing innovation going on within the business.
“I’m incredibly proud of the people that run and build our business every day and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work, their focus on our customers and their commitment to ensuring we continue to lead this industry,” Niran said.
“We believe in our people, in our business and in giving our best to our millions of customers who, every day, trust us with their most treasured assets.
“Winning the General Insurer of the Year Award for seven out of the past 10 years, and the new Learning and Development Award this year, shows us that we’re on the right track in our drive to innovate our business by investing in our people and our service.”
On the Learning and Development award, Allianz Chief Human Resources Officer Tim Dawson said: “It is wonderful that Allianz has been recognised for our efforts in making a solid commitment to improving our people’s capability and development.
“Investment in our people has improved our organisational capability and, in turn, demonstrated consistent, customer-centric behaviours and actions with each other, our customers and our partners.”
The awards come hot on the heels of Allianz being named Insurer of the Year 2017 in the annual Insurance Business ‘Brokers on Insurers’ survey, as well as the Personal Lines Insurer of the Year at the inaugural Mansfield Awards for claims excellence.
Niran said: “It’s been a very successful year for Allianz so far and it’s wonderful to be recognised by the industry for all of our efforts and add to our trophy cabinet.”
Since the last Australian Insurance Industry Awards, Allianz has continued to progress its 2020 strategy which includes a $100m investment in its digital and data strategy, and a target to become a top three insurer by revenue.
Niran said: “We’re on track to achieve our objectives and in a good position to continue this growth forward in 2018 under the new leadership of Richard Feledy.”
Richard is currently Allianz Australia Deputy Managing Director and will become Managing Director in January 2018 when Niran moves to Germany to take up a position on the global board of Allianz Group.
