Effective 1 June, 2016, Holger Schaefer will leave Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) to move to a regional leadership role at Euler Hermes.
Currently CEO of AGCS Pacific since September 2010, Holger Schaefer will leave to take on the role of Regional CEO of Asia Pacific for Allianz Group company Euler Hermes.
Over his time at AGCS, Holger oversaw significant development of the pacific region – growing revenue and new business, increasing the number of international insurance programs and further strengthening existing relationships with clients and brokers in Australia and New Zealand. Originally joining Allianz SE in 1992, his first role at AGCS was Head of Underwriting Liability, over the period both prior to and after AGCS was formed. He then took on the roles of Head of Market Management for Germany, and Global Head of Market Management based in London, before relocating to Australia as country manager.
Willem van Wyk, current CEO for AGCS Dubai since May 2015, will succeed Holger as Head of AGCS Pacific. With more than 25 years insurance experience; he started his Allianz career in the company as Head of Market Management Australia in May 2008. Before that, he was Head of Business Development for a global broker in Dubai and Regional Manager for an insurer in South Africa. A successor for Willem in Dubai will be announced in due course, but until that is confirmed, Willem will remain responsible for Dubai and our MENA business activities, in addition to the new role.
