Employer of Choice for Gender Equality
Allianz Australia’s ongoing focus on supporting and improving gender equality in the workplace has been acknowledged by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for the eighth year in a row by being awarded the Employer of Choice for Gender Equality Citation.

More than 100 diverse organisations have received the citation in 2016, which highlights employer commitment and best practice in promoting gender equality in Australian workplaces.

Commenting on Allianz’s success, Managing Director, Niran Peiris said, “we are pleased to be recognised for our commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace culture”.

“We have worked hard to establish well designed programs that support diversity and inclusion including flexible work opportunities, targeted recruitment practices and professional development programs that have increased the rate of women in leadership and management roles,” he said.

Diversity and inclusion, particularly gender equality, are inextricably linked to Allianz’s ongoing success and growth as a company. As a result we have strengthened the participation rates of women in management, retained talent, increased return to work rates following parental leave and continued to close the gender pay gap.

“The business case for diversity has never been more compelling – it brings together diversity of thought, experience and approaches to business issues. It is in this environment that we will see innovation flourish, engagement levels increase and a sharpened approach to attracting and retaining talent,” Peiris said.

“The flow on effect will be that we will be able to provide better customer experience because we understand and represent the needs of a multicultural and gender diverse Australia,” he said.

“Whilst we still have a way to go on our journey, our senior leadership team is supportive of the initiatives we have in place and we will continue to work to build on those to achieve full gender parity in the workplace.”
