Allianz welcomes ANZIIF nominations
Sydney, 2 July 2014
Allianz is pleased to once again be announced as a finalist for the 11th Annual Australian Insurance Industry Awards, in the categories of Large General Insurance Company of the Year and Women’s Council Employer of the Year.
This year, Global Transport, part of Allianz’s ‘One Allianz’ offering has also been nominated for the category of Underwriting Agency of the Year Award.
The awards are hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and Asia Insurance Review. Commenting on Allianz’s nominations, Managing Director, Niran Peiris, said, “Having won the Large General Insurance Company of the Year and the Employer of the Year for Women Awards in 2013, we’re delighted to be nominated again for these awards in 2014.
“In addition, we’re excited that our partner underwriting agency, Global Transport, has been nominated as a finalist for the Underwriting Agency of the Year Award.”
The three awards are judged on a comprehensive range of criteria. Addressing the criteria in its submissions, Allianz highlighted:
Strong growth - Allianz delivered strong retention figures and sustainable growth in 2013, completing three years of continuous improvement, with an overall premium growth of 6.6%.
Customer Focus – In 2013, Allianz introduced company-wide programs which enable a deeper understanding of customer expectations, preferences and aversions, prioritised by importance and satisfaction.
Innovation – Allianz’s innovation program, Innov8, encourages a culture of improvement, asking employees to be ‘forward thinking in improving what we do’. In 2013 one in four Allianz employees submitted an innovation, resulting in the implementation of 332 ideas across the organisation.
Leadership - Allianz has taken a leadership position in the rapidly evolving legislative and regulatory environment. Key areas in which Allianz was involved in 2013 include affordability of insurance in flood and cyclone zones and potential regulatory responses; consumer regulation issues; the reform of the Fire Services Levy in Victoria; and anti-discrimination laws and insurance in respect of age and disability, including mental illness; and CTP reform.
Women at Allianz – In 2013 Allianz implemented initiatives focusing on women in leadership, flexible work options, accessibility, ethnicity and generational diversity. Through these initiatives, participation rates of women in management positions have been strengthened, return to work rates have increased following parental leave and phased retirement options, and we have able to source and attract candidates that meet our current and future requirements.
“These nominations are recognition of Allianz’s commitment to ongoing improvement and innovation – both at an organisation and industry level,” Mr Peiris said.
“We are dedicated to listening to our customers and adapting our service to support them in their moment of need. Our employees are critical to helping us achieve this, and we’re therefore committed to ongoing development and training programs. We are also focused on flexible product offerings, corporate social responsibility initiatives and value for our partners and shareholders.”
“We look forward to the ANZIIF judging panel’s final decision for the awards on 20 August 2014.”
