Allianz Australia here to support customers affected by 5.8 magnitude earthquake

Our thoughts go out to those across Victoria impacted by the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred today. We understand this is a stressful time for our affected customers, and we are actively monitoring the situation and are here to help our customers over the coming days and weeks with their claims as the recovery period commences.

As of 3pm, Allianz Australia had received 70 claims. While the majority of customers are reporting minor cracking, we are aware some customers have experienced more extensive damage.

For those directly impacted by the earthquake, the first priority is to please stay safe and update any friends and family of your safety. Once the authorities deem it is safe to enter any damaged premises and you are ready to assess the damage, Allianz recommends creating an inventory of possessions and areas of the building that are damaged and to take photos if possible, ideally before disturbing the scene or they are removed.

Allianz Australia Home and Contents Insurance covers its customers for loss or damage caused by an earthquake. This includes damage caused by or arising from erosion, landslide, mudslide or subsidence if it is caused directly by and occurs within 72 hours of an earthquake.
