Allianz Ambassadors Madison de Rozario and Nic Beveridge have achieved outstanding success in 2018. In April at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Nic Beveridge took home a silver medal, while Madi de Rozario claimed two gold medals in the Women’s Athletics - one in the T54 1500m race and the other in the Marathon.

A week after her Commonwealth Games triumph, Madi won the women's elite wheelchair event at the London Marathon. Madi is the first Australian to win the London Marathon’s women’s wheelchair event.

October was also a busy month for Madi winning silver in the Chicago Marathon, being nominated for the prestigious Australian Sport “The Don” Award which was won by champion Para-athlete Kurt Fearnley. To add to her stunning year, Madison was named 2018 Cosmopolitan Sportswoman of the year. What a year for Madi!

This year at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Nic won the Silver medal in the Para-triathlon. The Para-triathlon included a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run circuit. Nic just edged out his hero, Australian Para-athlete, Bill Chaffey, who took home bronze. After losing the ability to walk at 17, Nic was inspired by Bill Chaffey to take up triathlon while he was in hospital after an operation in 2012. Nic was 25 and recovering from surgery, watching the 2012 Paralympics at the time he met Bill.

"I never would have dreamt that one day I would be racing against him. In Rio, I finished nine minutes after him. It's just unbelievable that here on the Gold Coast I edged him out of the silver by five seconds. It was great to be up on the podium with Bill Chaffey, who took home the Bronze medal, truly a most inspirational moment for me," Nic said.

Following the Commonwealth Games, injury and surgery saw part of Nic’s 2018 plans disappear. After not racing for half of the season, Nic was able to compete at the Sarasota Para-triathlon World Cup in America in October where Nic won his first ever international race.

Congratulations, Madi and Nic, on an amazing 2018.
