Yes. You’ll need to pay a Basic Excess if you make a claim on your Third Party Property Damage Insurance policy.
You might also need to pay an Under 25 excess if the person driving is under this age.

No. Third Party Property Damage Car Insurance is optional. The only type of cover that’s mandatory in Australia is Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance. This is sometimes included in your registration. In some states, such as NSW, QLD and SA, you need to purchase CTP insurance separately.
The main differences between CTP, Third Party Property Damage Car Insurance and Comprehensive Car Insurance are:
- CTP covers injuries or deaths caused to other people by your vehicle in a car accident.
- Third Party Property Damage Car Insurance covers damage you cause to other people’s cars or property.
- Comprehensive Car Insurance covers your car, plus damage to other people’s cars or property.

What’s covered, and what’s not
Yes. Third Party Car Insurance is designed to cover damage you cause to other people’s cars or property.
However, it doesn’t cover damage to your car. You’ll need Comprehensive Car Insurance or Comprehensive Essentials if you want cover for this as well.
No. Our Third Party Insurance doesn’t cover theft or fire. However, our Comprehensive Car Insurance covers you for theft and fire damage.
No. Third Party Car Insurance doesn’t cover damage to your own car from hail, storms or floods. Only Comprehensive Car Insurance and Comprehensive Essentials can cover this.
Yes. Allianz covers limited types of business use for Third Party Property Damage such as salespersons or carers. If you're unsure if your business use is acceptable, contact us for more information.
Allianz also offers Commercial Motor Vehicle Insurance specific for business use cars.
Third Party Car Insurance doesn’t cover damage to your caravan or trailer. You can take out caravan and trailer insurance to cover these.

- Driver exclusions apply if the driver is unlicensed, is not following the conditions of their license, refuses a drug or alcohol test, is under the influence of drugs or exceeds the legally allowed alcohol limit.
