Material Damage cover safeguards against damage caused by any sudden, unexpected or unforeseen occurrences to property insured and not otherwise excluded. With this cover, you can rest assured that your critical assets are protected, enabling you to rebuild your business.

Does Material Damage offer additional cover?

As well as cover for your building, contents and stock, your business can benefit from:

  • Demolition and debris removal. This provides for reasonable costs relating to the demolition and removal of insured property that is damaged.
  • Fire extinguishment covers the cost incurred to refill fire-fighting appliances caused by avoiding or minimising damage, up to $25,000 for any one event.
  • Make safe and temporary repairs provides cover for expenses relating to the protection of insured property following damage.
  • Professional fees covers costs reasonably incurred to reinstate insured property.
  • Flood; an optional benefit, if available and if selected.

Theft from businesses comes in many different forms. We have a range of cover options, and you can choose the amount insured to suit your business needs.

What else does Theft cover?

Theft cover can also include:

  • Theft of insured property contained on your business premises.
  • Damage to buildings and fixtures during theft, replacement of locks, protection of premises and temporary removal of your insured property to another premise in Australia.
  • Theft without forcible or violent entry up to $2,000.
  • Up to $25,000 for rewriting of stolen business records.
  • 50% seasonal increases to cover your stock (excluding tobacco) during the lead up to and after peak holiday periods such as Christmas and Easter.

When it comes to glass, every business has varying needs, from windows, to office partitions to advertising signs. So we've provided plenty of options for you to choose from.

Internal glass includes
  • Cover against items such as showcases, shelves and counters.
External glass includes
  • Fixed glass and/or perspex, as well as plastic materials used in external windows, doors and skylights.
Additional benefits of Glass cover include:
  • Temporary repairs, installation of shuttering and employment of watchmen or guards.
  • Repair and replacement of frames, sign-writing, alarm tapes, coatings or fittings and tiled shop fronts damaged as a result of glass breakage.
  • Removal and re-fit of fixtures to allow for repair or replacement of broken glass.
Additional benefits are covered up to $10,000 for any one event, plus:
  • Damaged stock by glass up to $1,000 during the period of insurance.
  • Illuminated/advertising signs up to $2,500 during the period of insurance.
Protect your products in transit

Protect your stock and contents


We understand there are additional risks involved when you are transporting your stock or goods. Transit cover can help in events such as fire, or the vehicle overturning while in transit.

Transit is not available online.

What else does Transit cover?

If your stock or goods are damaged while in transit anywhere in Australia, we will pay you for the applicable cover type (shown below).

There are 3 cover types to choose from:

  • Part A – “Fire, collision and overturning” covers damage to any property insured following fire, flood, lightning, earthquake, riots, strikes, civil commotion, collision and/or overturning of the transporting vehicle.
  • Part B – “Fire, collision and overturning and theft” covers damage to any property insured following fire, flood, lightning, earthquake, riots, strikes, civil commotion, collision and/or overturning of the transporting vehicle or theft from a locked vehicle following forcible and violent entry.
  • Part C – “All Risks not excluded” covers loss or damage (not otherwise excluded) including general average and salvage charges, adjusted or determined according to the contract of affreightment and/or governing law or practice.

You work hard for your money – our range of policies work hard to keep it safe. We give you options to cover your cash whether you keep it onsite, both during and outside business hours, as well as covering money in transit.

How can I cover my business cash?

You can choose to be covered for loss or damage to money contained in the building during or outside business hours, while in a locked safe or strong room, in transit, or in your personal custody while contained in your private residence.

Select from the following types of money cover, up to the sum insured:
Money in transit:
  • To or from your business premises; as well as
  • Money contained in the night safe of any bank; and
  • Money drawn as wages and or salaries until paid out.
Money contained on the Situation during Business Hours:
  • Money at your business premises during normal operating hours.
Money in a Locked Safe or Strong room:
  • Money stored in a securely locked safe or strong room in the building.
Money in custody:
  • Money kept in your personal custody, in your own private residence, or in the custody of an authorised person in their private residence until the next business day when it can be deposited.
Additional benefits include:
  • Clothing and personal effects.
  • Death following assault.
  • Keys, locks and combinations.
  • Seasonal increase – for example over holiday periods.
  • Temporary protection and watchmen.
  • Theft, fraud or dishonestly by your employees.
