Allianz Domestic Travel Insurance offers cover for a single trip within Australia. It’s designed to cover personal liability, luggage, unexpected trip cancellation*, and more.
It is also designed to provide cover for the insurance excess on your rental vehicle if you are in an accident*.
Plus you can add optional cover and increase item limits for an additional premium, or apply for cover for pre-existing medical conditions*.

The below sets out the most we will pay for all claims made under each section on a single plan. Limits can vary depending on the plan you chose.

4 You will not have cover under Benefit 6.1 Personal Liability for any claims arising from your participation in any of the activities listed under Adventure Pack or your participation in snow sport activities.
5 A default limit for Benefit 2.1 Cancellation is automatically included in your cover unless you make a selection. However you are able to choose different levels of cover from the amounts available to you when you purchase your policy. Any benefit limit selected by you will be shown on your Certificate of Insurance. The benefit limit shown will be the most we will pay for all claims under Benefit 2.1 Cancellation.

Allianz Domestic Travel Insurance is designed specifically for trips that are taken within Australia. It provides cover for loss of or damage to luggage and personal effects and travel delay expenses. We also provide cover for other additional expenses such as rental vehicle excess, personal liability and theft of cash. Cancellation Fees can be covered when you select your level of cover at the time of purchase. Make sure you read the Product Disclosure Statement to see all conditions, terms, limits and exclusions that may apply.
It’s important to note that Domestic Travel Insurance does not cover medical expenses.
If your trip will consist of snow activities, ocean cruising or adventure activities you should consider purchasing a Snow, Cruise or Adventure Pack*.
For an additional premium, these packs will cover additional activities that are not automatically included in our Domestic policies.
You must be aged under 75 years at the time the Certificate of Insurance is issued in order to purchase the Snow Pack and the Adventure Pack. You will not have cover under Benefit 6.1 Personal Liability for any claims arising from, or in any way connected with your participation in any of the activities listed as covered adventure activities in the Adventure Pack or your participation in snow sport activities.
Our Snow Pack is designed to cover in certain circumstances, for your snow sport equipment and cost of re-hire as well as coverage for piste closure, bad weather and avalanche closure. This cover is subject to conditions, terms, limits and exclusions which are outlined in the PDS.
The Cruise Pack is designed to cover, subject to the terms of the policy, medical and hospital expenses if you are injured or become sick on a cruise, ship to shore evacuation if required for emergency medical treatment, plus cover for cabin confinement, pre-paid shore excursion cancellation, marine rescue diversion, and formal attire that has been damaged, lost, stolen or delayed.
Allianz Domestic Travel Insurance automatically includes cover for a wide range of activities such as golf or snorkelling. You can also purchase an Adventure Pack if you are planning on participating in adventure activities such as motorbike riding*, moped riding*, abseiling, deep sea fishing or zip lining. Allianz Domestic Travel Insurance plans are available for travellers of all ages, including senior citizens.
However, some of the additional packs available to purchase do have age restrictions. You must be aged under 75 years at the time the Certificate of Insurance is issued in order to purchase the Snow Pack and the Adventure Pack.
The cost of Domestic Travel Insurance varies. You can get a quote online or over the phone to find out the cost of a Domestic Travel Insurance policy for your trip.
What may influence the cost of your policy are factors such as your age, if there are others listed on your policy like a spouse, partner or dependants, if you purchase any additional options such as our Snow, Adventure and Cruise Packs, and any pre-existing medical conditions.
This product has a general exclusion, with limited exceptions, against epidemics and pandemics. That means we don’t cover claims that arise from, or are related to, an epidemic or pandemic.
However, you are covered under selected benefits in this product if, during your period of cover, you are positively diagnosed as suffering a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, such as COVID-19.
Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement to see which benefits offer cover in the event that you contract a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, and the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions that apply.
PLEASE NOTE: there is no cover under any benefit of this policy if your claim arises because you did not follow advice or a warning that has been issued by the Australian Government or a reliable mass media source. This applies even if an Australian government has given you permission to travel, or you fall under a specific exemption where there is otherwise a travel ban in place.

If you are required to shorten your journey while travelling or are prevented from travelling due to a COVID-19 border closure or mandatory quarantine period you may be entitled to receive a partial or full refund on your premium. There is no cover under any benefit of this policy if your claim arises because you did not follow an advice or warning that a reasonable person would have been aware of, that has been issued by the Australian government (when a reconsider your need to travel or do not travel alert is in place), which can be found on Smartraveller; or which was published in a reliable mass media source.

A general exclusion, sometimes referred to as a policy exclusion or exclusion, is an exclusion that applies to all policy benefits, regardless of when the travel insurance policy was purchased.
Should a general exclusion apply, your travel insurance policy will not provide cover for the specified event, activities or circumstances.

This optional pack is designed to cover a range of more adventurous sports and activities not automatically covered in your policy. Please be aware that some sports and activities are not covered under any circumstances. Check the PDS for a list of what sports and activities are covered.
You must be aged under 75 years at the time the Certificate of Insurance is issued in order to purchase the Adventure Pack. You will not have cover under Benefit 6.1 Personal Liability for any claims arising from, or in any way connected with your participation in any of the activities listed as covered adventure activities in the Adventure Pack.
Covered adventure activities
Even if you purchase the Adventure Pack, you will only be covered while riding on a motorcycle, moped, motorised scooter or quad bike if:
Terms and conditions for Snow, Cruise and Adventure Packs
You can choose the base excess that applies to your policy.
Snow and Adventure packs have an additional excess of $500 per pack. Overseas Medical and Hospital Expenses and Cancellation claims arising from your participation in snow sport or adventure activities will incur a $500 excess in addition to your chosen base excess. You cannot pay to remove or reduce this excess.

You will not have cover under Benefit 6.1 Personal Liability for any claims arising from, or in any way connected with your participation in any of the activities listed as covered adventure activities in the Adventure Pack or your participation in snow sport activities.

This option allows you for an additional premium to increase item type cover limits on your selected domestic, multi-trip or comprehensive plan. It is ideal if you're planning on taking higher value items with you on your trip and want to cover them for a higher value.
Cover is provided in your policy for the loss or theft of, or accidental damage to, luggage and personal effects up to the item limits shown in the PDS. If you need a higher limit, you can purchase our Increased Item Limits Cover by paying an additional premium when you purchase your policy.
