A friendly service watching over seniors

2 August 2006

National Seniors Insurance has signed with Allianz Australia to form a partnership that will provide Australians 50 and over with a comprehensive range of insurance policies tailored to meet both essential and lifestyle needs.

The new National Seniors Insurance will officially open its doors for business today, Wednesday, 2 August at premises located at 157 Ann Street, Brisbane.

National Seniors Association's Chief Executive, Mr David Deans says we have identified a much needed service in the insurance market especially catering for senior Australians who are seeking a more tailored service with competitive market prices.

"With a membership base of 280,000 plus benefiting from the National Seniors organisation, we are already receiving a great deal of interest from the members inquiring into insurance products for seniors," said Mr Deans.

Allianz Australia, a member of the Allianz Group, one of the world's largest insurance companies, will service the policies. Among the latest policies available, clients will be able to choose from Home Classic, Home Prestige and Motor Prestige policies. There are also Home and Landlords packages, caravan, pleasurecraft and travel insurance to choose from.

"The Allianz products offer a wide range of features that help members and customers to tailor cover to suit their needs and provide flexible payment options," said Mr Nicholas Scofield, Allianz Australia, General Manager Corporate Affairs.

"Depending on the product, National Seniors members can take advantage of variable excesses, policy discounts and special features which can reduce premiums. For example, Home Insurance customers may be eligible for a No Claim Bonus discount of up to 30 percent and a discount of up to 10 percent for insuring their home and contents under the one policy. Customers can also choose to remove their excess. In Motor Insurance we offer a Safe Driver Discount of up to 9 percent on top of the standard No Claim Bonus," he said.

"National Seniors members can also customise some policies. Allianz offers a Voluntary Excess of up $500 on its Motor Insurance. For every $100 of excess the customer opts for, they can save about 2 percent in premium. Customers with good driving records tend to take a larger excess and save on premium."

In addition to looking for premium savings, Mr Scofield said that National Seniors members should also consider what represents true value for money. Allianz offers choice of repairer service at no cost. Alternatively if the customer doesn’t have a preferred repairer Allianz can manage the full vehicle repair process through its Managed Repair Process.

Allianz will release a revamped Caravan Insurance policy during September, which will also be available to National Seniors’ customers.

National Seniors Insurance will begin operations today with a new telephone number. For a direct quote from National Seniors Insurance call 1300 50 50 99.

Through Allianz, National Seniors can offer a no application form, no claim form service, enabling seniors to receive a fast and friendly service over the phone.

National Seniors Insurance, General Manager, Mr Chris Blair said whether a client simply wants to ask questions about the policies or needs some peace of mind with home and motor vehicle insurance or they want to take a holiday and need security, the consultants will be happy to help.

"Please feel free to contact National Seniors Insurance to enquire on your existing policy or ask about a new one. One of our call centre consultants will be standing by to take your call," he said.
