Family travel insurance covers eligible members of your family when travelling overseas or within Australia.

If you choose ‘Family’ when you get your travel insurance quote, family cover is automatically applied, subject to the policy terms and conditions.

Families can come in many shapes and sizes, including stepparents travelling with their stepchildren, grandparents travelling with grandchildren, or single parents with kids.

If you’re a single parent or grandparent, the kids can be covered on your holiday. Add eligible kids as dependants to your single policy.

Whatever your family looks like, Allianz can provide travel insurance options for you.

Bundling cover for all family members under one policy can be cheaper than purchasing individual plans.

One policy makes it easier to track cover details and claims. Add up to 10 eligible dependants and 2 adults to your family policy.

Choose from BasicComprehensive, Multi-trip or Domestic travel insurance plans. Designed to suit your family's needs, whether you're going on a short getaway, a long adventure, or both.

Make sure to carefully read the Product Disclosure Statement to understand the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions that apply to your cover.

Customise your cover for an additional premium. Choose from optional cover like a Cruise Pack, Adventure Pack, Snow Pack, or increased items limits, where available and subject to eligibility.1,2

The whole family can be covered for a range of unexpected events, depending on the plan selected. This includes overseas emergency assistance, overseas medical and hospital expenses, cancellation, travel delays, lost luggage, and more.1,3

Allianz Family Travel Insurance covers you, your spouse or partner, and any dependants. If you’re travelling with children or grandchildren, they can be covered as dependants. This applies to our BasicComprehensive, and Domestic plans, subject to the policy terms and conditions.

Your dependants must be with travelling with you for 100% of the journey. They can’t be in full-time employment and must be under 25 years old, as defined in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

To decide which plan best suits your needs, compare Allianz Travel Insurance plans.

Our family cover includes you, your spouse or partner, and up to 10 dependants. Dependants can be:

  • children
  • grandchildren
  • stepchildren
  • adopted children
  • foster children
  • children you care for under a legal guardian arrangement

Nieces, nephews, or siblings will require their own policy. They can only be a dependant if you care for them under a legal guardian arrangement, as defined in the PDS

Family policies require children to travel with a listed parent or guardian. If children travel alone, each person travelling may require a separate policy, subject to policy terms and eligibility.

A family policy covers children even when they attend a kids club or similar activities during your trip. If your holiday involves a cruise element, skiing or adventure activities, you may need to consider adding an optional Adventure, Ski or Cruise Pack to your family policy.1,2

Domestic Travel Insurance is worth considering. While a domestic plan won’t cover your medical costs in Australia, it’s designed to cover cancellations, travel delays, lost or stolen luggage or an excess you’re liable to pay if your rental car is damaged or stolen.1
