Can I just add what a lovely young fellow Hank was, polite and professional”

Amanda, VIC, March 2026

David has over 35 years’ experience in building homes across Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore.

As a qualified maintenance plumber, Hank has a good knowledge of residential plumbing and building processes.

Andrew’s passion for building led to him become a qualified carpenter and builder, and he’s been running his own business for over 15 years.

A licensed builder, John has over 10 years’ experience across new homes and home renovations.

Found under sinks and toilets, flexi-hoses connect your water supply to toilets, sinks, dishwashers, and washing machines. They’re a leading cause of water damage. Usually made of rubber covered with a stainless-steel mesh, flexi-hoses are commonly used in Australian homes.

It’s vital to check flexi-hoses often for leaks or damage and arrange repairs if needed.

The Home Safety Specialist will inspect visible flexi-hoses at your home. If any need replacing due to deterioration or poor condition, they can arrange for a licensed plumber to carry out this work. They’ll need your consent to arrange this.

If needed, we’ll cover the cost of the replacement up to a maximum of $300, including GST for parts and labour. If you approve any amount above this limit, you’ll need to pay the extra costs.

If the plumber needs to replace any additional flexi-hoses above the $300 limit, let us know when you book the appointment. This is to make sure the plumber allows enough time to complete the work. You’ll need to pay the plumber directly for this extra work.

A Home Safety Specialist can visit your home to check its condition. They can fix small issues1 during their visit. They’ll also give you a report on anything else that needs fixing. This can help you prevent small problems from turning into bigger ones.

If you’re an Allianz Landlord Insurance customer, you’ll need to arrange access to the property with your tenant or real estate agent. Your tenant or someone you authorise must be present for the Home Health Check to take place.

The Home Health Check will take up to 90 minutes. To make the most of your inspection time, make sure the Home Health Specialist can access focus areas easily. For example, clear cupboards below sinks, so they can inspect flexi-hoses.

We’ll send a Home Safety Specialist to carry out the home check and provide a report to help you spot any issues that need your attention.

When you book a Home Health Check, we’ll ask you some questions about your home. This helps us focus on the right areas during your 90-minute home inspection. What’s checked will depend on this conversation.

These are the sorts of things our Home Safety Specialists may check:

  • Ceilings and walls
  • Doors and locks
  • Electrical switches and outlets
  • Exterior walls
  • Flexi-hoses
  • Floor grates and drainage
  • Gutters from ground level
  • Hot water systems
  • Showers and bathtubs
  • Smoke alarms
  • Taps and fittings
  • Ventilation systems, such as filters and exhaust fans
  • Windows

They may be able to fix minor issues that don’t need licensed tradepeople and can be completed within the 90-minute timeframe. This may include:

  • Fixing leaky taps
  • Unblocking drains
  • Tightening loose door handles or hinges.

If other issues are identified during the Home Health Check that need a licensed tradesperson, we can recommend one. If you prefer, you can choose your own. You’ll need to pay for any extra services.

For a full list of will and won't be checked or fixed, see the terms and conditions.

If you need extra maintenance work, your Home Safety Specialist can recommend tradespeople for you through our Trusted Tradies network. This is our network of licensed tradespeople trusted by us. You’ll need to ask for this and pay for any extra work that’s beyond the Home Health Check.

An authorised Allianz Home Safety Specialist will wear a uniform showing the Allianz logo and have an ID card. When you book your Home Health Check, we’ll share the name of our Home Safety Specialist.

Each Home Safety Specialist has a scope of services for each home they visit. The scope of services clearly defines what they’re checking and what they can fix. If the Home Safety Specialist discovers issues outside the scope, they’ll detail them in your report and discuss this with you, but they won't fix everything.
