WorkSafe OHS Essentials Program

Last updated on December 2021
If you are an employer in Victoria with 60 workers or less, you can apply for WorkSafe Victoria’s free Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Essentials program. Through this program, WorkSafe has helped hundreds of small and medium Victorian businesses improve their workplace safety.

The OHS Essentials Program is a free safety consultation service available to small and medium-sized Victorian businesses with a WorkCover Insurance Policy. Sole traders employing contractors may also be eligible, but must hold a WorkCover Insurance Policy.

You’ll be paired up with an independent industry expert who will work with you over 12 months across three sessions to understand your business and set out a practical plan to improve workplace safety in your business.

The program is:

  • Confidential – All consultations are confidential. Once paired up, the process stays between you and the OHS Expert.
  • Personalised – The OHS consultant will come to your workplace and make safety recommendations based on your business needs.
  • Independent – The consultations are practical, tailored and take place at a time that’s convenient for you.
  • Funded by WorkSafe – The service is complimentary to you as we work with you to keep your employees safe and improve occupational health and safety in Victorian workplaces.

You can apply for the OHS Essentials Program if you are a small or medium business (with up to 60 workers) and hold a Victorian WorkCover Insurance Policy.
