Allianz Australia named WGEA Employer of Choice

25 February 2020

Allianz Australia has been named an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for the 11th consecutive year (Employer of Choice for Women 2009-13; Employer of Choice for Gender Equality 2014-20.)

Allianz was recognised for its efforts in embedding flexible work practices, supporting both women and men with caring responsibilities; increasing the representation of women in senior leadership positions; and its efforts to eliminate the gender pay gap.

As of January 2020, Allianz had 41 per cent female representation at a senior leadership level; this is ahead of its target of 40 per cent women in leadership by 2020. In addition, Allianz has achieved a less than 1 per cent pay gap for like-for-like roles, has a zero tolerance policy for sex-based harassment and discrimination, and has de-gendered parental leave policies.

Commenting on the EOCGE citation, Allianz Australia Managing Director and a member of the Male Champion of Change for Insurance group, Richard Feledy said: “Gender equity is a key pillar in our approach to creating an inclusive work environment where our people can feel that they belong and do their best work. I am proud that Allianz has once again been recognised for its efforts in supporting gender equity in the workplace.

“We know breaking down stereotypes is one of the biggest challenges in creating a gender diverse workforce, which is why Allianz is committed to supporting both women and men in achieving their professional and personal goals, through our focus on flexible work practices and equitable development opportunities.

“Ensuring Allianz has a good gender balance is not only the right thing to do, it makes good business sense.”

Allianz is one of 119 organisations that met the high standards and rigorous assessment process required to become an EOCGE citation holder. WGEA this year strengthened the eligibility criteria by placing even greater emphasis on accountability, outcomes, evidence and internal reporting processes.
