We’ve been securing the future of our customers in Australia since 1914. Formerly known as Manufacturers Mutual Insurance Limited, we became Allianz Australia in July, 2000.
2022
The newly rebuilt Allianz Stadium opened its doors in August with a focus on sustainable design.
2021
Allianz Australia moves into new headquarters at Brookfield Place, Sydney.
2021
Allianz Australia completes acquisition of Westpac Banking Corporation’s general insurance arm and commences a 20-year exclusive agreement to distribute general insurance products to Westpac customers.

Allianz Australia sells Ken Tame and Associates.
2021
Allianz Group joins the Worldwide Olympic Partner program. 
2019
Allianz Australia becomes a partner of the Australian Olympic Team.
2019
Allianz Group becomes a founding member of the UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance, making a commitment to reduce the carbon emissions of our investment portfolios to net-zero by 2050.
2018
Allianz Group joins the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment to achieving a carbon-free economy and begins phasing out coal entirely across the business.
2017
Allianz Australia becomes underwriter for Dawes Underwriting Australia’s motor vehicle insurance products.
2016
Allianz Australia partners with Settlement Services International to deliver new career opportunities and support for people from refugee backgrounds to achieve independence.
2015
Allianz Group makes the decision to stop financing coal-based business models. 
2012
Sydney Football Stadium joins the Allianz family of stadiums around the world, officially renamed Allianz Stadium. 
2012
Allianz Australia backs the creation of specialist insurer in Australian marine and transit insurance, AM&T (Allianz Marine and Transit Underwriting Agency).
2011
Allianz Australia becomes a partner of Paralympics Australia. 
2009
Allianz Australia is first recognised as an Employer of Choice for Women (now Employer of Choice for Gender Equality) by Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (now Workplace Gender Equality Agency).
2006
Allianz Group becomes a partner of the International Paralympic Committee.
2006
Allianz is granted a licence by the regulators APRA and ASIC, to sell life insurance products in Australia under the company name Allianz Australia Life Insurance Ltd.
2006
Allianz Australia’s injury management and workplace health subsidiary Recovre is sold to Hawkesbridge Private Equity to become an independent company.
2005
Allianz Group implements climate strategy to actively support the global transition to a low-carbon economy.
2002
Allianz Australia subsidiary Combrook rebrands as Recovre.
2002
Allianz Australia participates in a joint venture called the Community Care Underwriting Agency to assist not-for-profit organisations with public liability insurance.
2001
Allianz Australia Advantage (AAA) is formed to manage a joint venture between Allianz Australia and HIH Insurance. In March, Allianz Australia buys out HIH’s interest in the joint venture.
2000
Official change in title from MMI to Allianz Australia in July.
1998
Allianz acquires majority shareholding in MMI and MMI becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Allianz AG.
1997
The company establishes two new entities, DirecDial Financial Services Limited and SafetyNet Services Pty Ltd, now integrated within the mainline businesses.
1994
MMI becomes a publicly listed company in April 1994.
1993
MMI acquires the operation of Switzerland Insurance Australia Ltd.
1991
Club Marine acquisition takes place, increasing the company’s Pleasurecraft Insurance portfolio.
1990
MMI enters into the insurance premium funding market and establishes an office in New Zealand.
1989
The company’s operations expand in Victoria, South Australia, West Australia and Tasmania with the acquisition of "Chamber of Manufacturers Insurance".
1987
Combrook Pty Limited is incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of MMI.
1986
MMI acquires the Australian operation of Allianz.
1970
The company takes on the management of the Yasuda Fire and Marine Insurance’s Australian business.
1960
The company acquires "The Western Australian Insurance Company Limited" and as a result, operations extend to Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
1951
The company is operating throughout New South Wales and Queensland with 26 district officers and a staff of 388 people.
1942
The company’s assets pass the $1 million mark.
1933
The Queensland Chamber of Manufacturers suggests that MMI extend its operation to Queensland.
1920
The company changes its name to Manufacturers Mutual Insurance Limited, (MMI).
1914
The first annual report of the company showed that "The Manufacturers’ Mutual Accident Insurance Association Limited" began its Workers' Compensation underwriting business on 30 May.
