Benefits we offer

  • Overseas Emergency Snow Sport Assistance1,2,3,4

We can help if you are injured, become sick, or need treatment for a pre-existing medical condition (that we agreed to cover) while doing a covered snow sport overseas. This includes:

  • Access to a medical adviser for emergency medical treatment while overseas.
  • Medical evacuation to the nearest overseas hospital or back to Australia.
  • Return of your dependants to Australia, if they are left unsupervised following your hospitalisation or evacuation.
  • Own Snow Sport Equipment1,2,3

Cover is provided for your snow sport equipment if (during the period of cover) it’s stolen, accidently damaged or permanently lost while not in use. See Own Snow Sport Equipment in the PDS for the exceptions to this cover.

  • Snow Sport Equipment Hire1,2

We’ll reimburse reasonable hire costs if your own equipment is misplaced or delayed for more than 24 hours, stolen, accidentally damaged, or permanently lost.

If you hired equipment and are charged for losing or damaging it, we’ll reimburse that charge.

  • Snow Sport Pack1,2

If you can’t use your pre-booked and pre-paid ski passes, lift passes, equipment hire, or tuition fees due to injury, sickness, or a covered pre-existing condition, we’ll reimburse the unused non-refundable portion.

This also applies if you are diagnosed with COVID-19.

  • Piste Closure1,2,3

If all lifts at your pre-booked resort are closed for more than 24 hours due to lack of snow, bad weather, or power failure, we’ll reimburse costs for transport to the nearest resort or extra ski passes.

  • Bad Weather and Avalanches1,2

If bad weather or an avalanche delays your pre-booked outbound or return travel by more than 12 hours, we’ll reimburse reasonable additional travel and accommodation costs until you can continue your trip.

  • Permanent Disability or Personal Liability claims that arise from your participation in snow sport activities.
  • Any form of bobsleighing, snow rafting, parapenting, racing, ski acrobatics, ski or snowboard jumping, stunting, aerial or freestyle activities, skijoring, power-assisted skiing or use of mechanised snowmobiles.
  • Competing in a professional capacity.
  • Snow sport activities which involve going off-piste or back-country.
  • Claims arising from not wearing appropriate protective clothing and head protection.
  • Emergency snow sport assistance within Australia.

All activities should take place on groomed terrain, marked and open slopes within ski resort boundaries.1

No, Allianz Domestic Travel Insurance policies and the optional Snow Pack does not cover medical and hospital expenses incurred in Australia.

In addition, our Snow Pack doesn’t cover you for emergency snow sport assistance within Australia. For full details see the Product Disclosure Statement.

To be eligible to purchase a Snow Pack you must be under 75 years at the time your policy is issued. You can buy a Snow Pack if you are under 75 years of age when your policy is issued. A Snow Pack is only available for purchase with a Comprehensive, Multi Trip or Domestic Plan.

Yes. The Snow Pack has an extra excess of $500 on top of your chosen base excess. This amount can’t be changed or removed. 

The excess applies if you make a claim under Overseas Medical & Hospital Expenses or Cancellation Benefits, and the claim is due to your participation in a snow sport activity.
