Allianz has initiated its emergency response plans to support customers impacted by hail storms in south-east Queensland and Cyclone Fina in Darwin.
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) today declared the Queensland storms an Insurance Catastrophe and Allianz received 1642 claims by 11:30 AM on Tuesday 25 November 2025.
The Allianz Event Leadership Team has implemented a comprehensive response plan in Queensland to ensure prompt and effective support to the affected communities where our customers live and work. This includes:
- Ready to assist with claims support: We’re encouraging customers who need urgent temporary repairs to call us on 13 10 13. For customers who are safe and secure, please lodge claims online. Allianz is diverting resources from across the business to support customers in lodging their claim.
- Preparing for deployment of our Disaster and Recovery Team: Allianz will mobilise its disaster response team to support customers on the ground. The team will set up a Motor Assessment Centre, where Allianz customers can bring their car in for a damage assessment.
- Customer Communications: Customers are being updated on how Allianz can support as this weather event unfolds through social media and via our website. Customers can also visit a webpage on responding to hail damage on the Allianz website.
- Free counselling support: Allianz also offers free, confidential counselling support to customers, distribution partners and their immediate families who have been affected by a natural catastrophic event. Calls are handled by Assure Programs and bookings can be made 24/7 via 1800 955 599. For more information, visit Allianz’s counselling support page.
Scott Cooper, National Manager Disaster and Recovery, Allianz commented, “Our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our customers and the communities where they live and work across the impacted regions. Our thoughts are with them and we’ve mobilising resources to support.
“We’re activating our Motor Assessment Centres and we’re encouraging our customers to call us if they need an urgent temporary repair to their home, or to lodge their claim online. It's worth getting in touch as soon as possible, even if they don’t know the full extent of the damage.”
Allianz and TIO are also continuing to support customers impacted by Cyclone Fina. While claims numbers remain modest at 273 claims, Allianz expects this number to rise as power is restored to the region.
The TIO and Allianz Disaster and Recovery team is now stationed at two locations in Darwin to deliver face-to-face support for customers to register claims, make payments, arrange assessments, place people in emergency and temporary accommodation identify customers who may be experiencing vulnerability and need additional support.
