GT Insurance announces new leadership appointments

1 October 2025

Specialist underwriting agency in transport and logistics sector, GT Insurance, has announced two new leadership appointments.

Nick Slessor has been appointed CEO of GT Insurance. With a wealth of experience and a proven track record in driving large operations and transformation across broking, general insurance and financial services companies, he is poised to lead GT Insurance through the delivery of its next phase of innovation and growth, backed by a team of specialists in the logistics sector. Nick has previously worked at QBE, Willis Towers Watson, GE and more recently as Chief Operating Officer, Cover-More Group. He will commence as CEO, GT Insurance, anticipated from December.

Tony Dodd has been appointed GT’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). The CCO role is newly created and is the result of the expansion of GT Insurance across the motor and marine sectors. In this role Tony will be responsible for delivering GT Insurance’s sales and distribution strategy. Tony has over 25 years’ experience in commercial insurance, with the past 20 of these with GT Insurance, including six as CEO. Tony’s exceptional distribution experience and leadership in this sector will accelerate the value GT Insurance provides its broker partner and customer outcomes.

“I’m proud to have led GT for the past six years, having delivered a number of key initiatives including the merger of Allianz Marine and Transit and GT during this time. I’m excited to transition into the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer where I will continue to lead GT’s state and national distribution teams for all broker market engagement, ensuring GT’s commitment to supporting customers and brokers,” said Tony Dodd.

"GT Insurance continues to invest in technology and process improvements to provide better outcomes for our customers. This transition will ensure our broker partners, customers and people, are a fundamental part of GT Insurance’s evolution,” he added.

“This is an exciting time for GT Insurance, as the organisation enters the next phase of its expansion and reshapes to take up the opportunities ahead, while continuing to deliver great service to broker partners and customers. I would like to thank Tony for his stewardship at the helm of GT – thanks to his leadership, it is in a great position as one of the largest and most established underwriting agencies in the market” said Julie Mitchell, Chief General Manager, Allianz Personal Injury and Commercial, Allianz.
