How to make a claim
We know this is a difficult time, and we'll handle your claim with sensitivity and care.
1. To start your claim, call us
- Tell us about the accident and give us the registration numbers of the vehicles involved.
- You must report the accident to the police. If you haven’t done so, fill out the Traffic Incident Form.
- Keep a record of your medical reports and copies of claim-related medical receipts.
2. We'll assess your claim
- We’ll review how the accident happened and if a vehicle insured by Allianz was at fault.
- We’ll let you know the next steps.
- If we accept your claim, your dedicated Case Manager will assess your entitlements.
3. Receive treatment and entitlements
- Our Injury Management team will work with you to identify your treatment needs.
- We’ll start paying for reasonable and necessary treatment.
- For fatal injury claims we can help with funeral costs and compensation for dependents.

We’re here to support you, and we aim to make the claims process as easy as possible. We’ll explain each step in the claims process, and your Case Manager will answer any questions you may have.
You have the option to seek legal advice at any stage of the claims process. You may choose to deal directly with us about your claim or engage a lawyer to act on your behalf. Before engaging a lawyer, you should discuss the potential costs involved and whether any of these legal costs may be recoverable from Allianz.
You may make a claim for injuries caused by a vehicle we insure for CTP. We’ll need to confirm how the accident happened, who’s at fault, and that we insured the at-fault vehicle.
Then we’ll reach a decision based on the policy terms.
- Personal injury claims: If we accept your claim, we’ll pay for treatment to help your recovery.
- Fatal injury claims: If we accept your claim for a member of your family, we’ll help with costs like funeral expenses and compensation for dependents.
We’ll explain what you may be able to claim for during your first call with us. You might be able to claim for the following if they relate to the accident:
- Treatment and rehabilitation costs: if you’ve already paid for treatment, we may reimburse you.
- Loss of income due to your injuries: paid after we’ve settled your claim.
- Pain and suffering: based on your injury severity.
- Care services for serious injuries: we’ll explain the thresholds.
If we’ve accepted your claim, your Case Manager will guide you through your entitlements and answer any questions.
Compensation depends on the severity of the injury sustained, its impact on your work, and whether you were partly at fault.
Yes. You must lodge your CTP claim form within nine months of the date of accident. If your lawyer is managing your claim, it must be lodged within one month of consulting the lawyer.
For minors, timeframes to lodge a claim don’t start until the child turns 18 years old. If you need more information about these claim time limits, call us on (07) 3023 9014.
We’ll contact you within three business days of receiving your signed and fully completed claim form. We’ll be in touch regularly to make sure that your recovery is going well.
Just as injuries can be unique, claims can be too. We’ll work with you to resolve your claim quickly to make sure you get the care you need.
Common claims, like whiplash, may be settled within weeks. Serious injury claims, like head or major spinal issues, may take months or years. Your Case Manager will give you more accurate timings based on your specific injury.
Eligible customers with CTP insurance beginning before 12 AM on 1 July 2023 may be entitled to additional benefits under the At-Fault Policy.
From 12 AM on 1 July 2023, Allianz no longer offers an At-Fault Policy to new or renewing customers with CTP insurance.
