Our thoughts are with everyone affected by severe weather events

The safety of you and your family is the highest priority. You can replace damaged property, but you can’t replace people. Please keep yourself and your family out of harm’s way until the danger is over.

During the event, stay out of storm and flood water and always follow the directives given by local authorities. If you are in immediate danger or have an emergency, contact 000 or your local State Emergency Service (SES).

If you have optional flood cover on your Home Insurance policy, and you’re unable to remain at home, we may be able to arrange temporary accommodation. If you’re unsure what you are covered for, you can contact us to find out or refer to your Insurance Policy Schedule and the Home Insurance PDS for more details. We may also be able to provide you with a relief payment to help cover the costs of essentials. Please call our claims team to find out if you’re eligible.

Every claim is important to us, and we may be experiencing high call volumes during this time. To avoid phone queues, you can lodge your claim online.

Recovering from an extreme weather event is about more than recouping possessions. Our customers who have been affected have access to free confidential counselling support.

When it is safe and practical to do so you can make a claim for damage online, or call our Claims Team on 13 10 13. We’ll need your policy details but don’t worry if you can’t find them, our team will be able to run a search with any details you do have and find you in our system. We will be there to guide you through the claims process.

If it’s safe to do so, take as many photos of the damage as you can to help us with your claim. Once you have taken the photos, it’s okay to take steps to prevent any further damage or loss even if you haven’t submitted your claim yet. This includes removing any wet and flood damaged items and placing them on the curb.

In most cases, once you have submitted your claim, we’ll appoint an assessor who will be in touch as soon as possible. The assessor will ask you questions about your claim and any damage or losses. They will let you know what the next steps are and may arrange a site visit. If this happens, we’ll do our best to work around your availability.
