Allianz appoints new General Manager, Underwriting Agencies

Allianz Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Jenny Bax as General Manager, Underwriting Agencies from 1 July, a newly created position within its Broker and Agency division.

In the role Jenny will be responsible for the oversight and governance of Allianz’s Underwriting Agencies, making sure each agency’s unique expertise and specialisation complements Allianz’s overall strategy.

With over 25 years’ insurance industry experience, Jenny joined Allianz in February 2019 as the Senior Portfolio Director in the Technical division and has a proven track record in leading distribution, underwriting and operational teams. Prior to joining Allianz, Jenny was the NSW State Manager for Ansvar, and also held senior positions at QBE, including a period of time as the Underwriting and Operations Manager in Manila.

Commenting on the appointment, David Hosking, Allianz Australia’s Chief General Manager Broker and Agency said: “We have created this role to lead and execute the strategic direction for our Underwriting Agencies and I’m really excited to have someone of Jenny’s calibre and experience lead the team.

"Our industry continues to rapidly evolve, particularly from a governance and regulatory perspective. Jenny's oversight will help ensure best-practice in these areas will continue to be implemented as part of the overall strategic direction for our Underwriting Agencies."

Jenny said: “The changing regulatory environment, while challenging, provides us with opportunities to strengthen the governance of our agency partners to help shape our success in the future.

“The Underwriting Agencies are an integral part of the success of Allianz and I look forward to working with an amazing team to continue building on that. I am excited to have been appointed to the newly created role of General Manager, Underwriting Agencies in the Broker and Agency team.”
