Sydney, 20 October 2014

Allianz is pleased to announce the appointment of Eugene Elisara to the role of Chief Executive Officer - New Zealand. This follows the announcement earlier this year of the retirement of Bruce Watters at the end of 2014.

Eugene will assume direct responsibility for Allianz’s Corporate and Commercial Broker distribution as well as promoting the "One Allianz" approach and represent Allianz as the primary contact for local industry and regulatory bodies. Eugene will begin transitioning into the role from 10 November.

David Hosking, Allianz’s Chief General Manager Broker & Agency, said “Eugene possesses a blend of strong market facing skills, as well as strong business management and compliance experience. Eugene has all the skills to build on the re-alignment work begun in 2013 and finalised in 2014 to drive Allianz’s value proposition in the New Zealand market.”

Eugene joins Allianz from American International Group (AIG) in New Zealand where he was the Head of Broker Distribution and Client Management. Prior to this, he was General Counsel and Chief Administration Officer with AIG. A qualified lawyer, Eugene has practised law in both New Zealand and Australia, predominantly specialising in insurance.
