Material Damage (compulsory cover)

Material Damage cover is designed to provide protection for property insured, from damage caused by any sudden, unexpected or unforeseen occurrence not otherwise excluded. This cover, protects your business assets enabling you to re-build your business.

Loss of, or damage to your business:

Buildings – the building at your situation, including underground services, walls and gates
Contents - equipment such as your store fit out, cash registers, computers, telephones and business records
Stock in Trade including containers, packaging materials and consumers' goods

This section covers damage by, for example:

Fire
Storm or lightning damage
Malicous damage
Accidental damage

Examples of events which are covered by this policy include:

Damage to your business' Stock in Trade caused by a burst water main
Smoke damage to Stock in Trade as a result of a fire in the adjoining premises
The cost of hiring a temporary security guard following damage to the building

Accidental damage is automatically covered up to the sum insured.

Reinstatement or replacement value - cover is provided for repair or replacement on a new for old basis
Indemnity value - cover is provided for the cost to repair or replace property, making an allowance for wear, tear and depreciation
