Allianz wins 2010 ABF Best General Insurance Company of the Year Award

Commenting on Allianz’s success, Managing Director, Terry Towell, said “Allianz is delighted to win the 2010 Best General Insurance Company of the Year award.”
The Award is presented to the general insurance company judged to have performed best against a range of criteria including market share, financial strength, claims experience, customer experience and product offering.
Addressing the criteria in its submission, Allianz highlighted its:
- strong organic premium growth of 10% in 2009 against the background of an uncertain economic environment and continuing strong growth to June 2010, resulting in an increase in market share to 10.5%;
- financial strength, evidenced by a normalised Return on Equity of 18.4% in the year to June 1010 and an Insurance Margin of 16.1% over the same period, based, among other things a total expense ratio of 25%, which is lower than its peers; and
- market-leading customer service, for example, the compliment from an Allianz customer affected by the Melbourne hail storm, who wrote “I would just like to say ‘Thank you’ for your fantastic service, I will be singing the praises of Allianz for a long, long, time to come.”
