Allianz Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance covers your liability to pay compensation to anyone who’s injured if you, or other drivers of your car, cause an accident on the road.

  • Your liability
  • CTP insurance generally covers your liability – and the liability of anyone who drives your vehicle – for injuries and death caused to other parties in a motor vehicle accident, 24 hours a day, anywhere in Australia.

  • Damage to vehicles or property
  • CTP insurance doesn’t cover damage to your vehicle, other vehicles or property. Visit Car Insurance if you’re looking for this type of cover.
  • At-fault driver
  • CTP insurance doesn’t compensate an injured driver that is entirely at fault. Although some cover may be available under the National Injury Insurance Scheme (NIIS) regardless of fault for very serious injuries.

The extent of QLD CTP cover is defined by law and in some circumstances may be excluded, such as if the accident was the result of a serious driving offence.
You can choose any QLD-government approved CTP insurer when renewing or registering your vehicle.
Visit the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) website to nominate Allianz as your CTP insurer.
You can nominate Allianz as your CTP insurer by calling the DTMR on 13 23 80.
Choose Allianz as your CTP insurer by completing the CTP Nomination section on the reverse side of your renewal notice. If you haven’t received your renewal notice, you can complete a CTP insurance nomination form.
When you buy a brand new, unregistered car, you can let your dealer know Allianz is your preferred CTP insurer.
A change of your CTP insurer must be received by the DTMR on or before the expiry date on your registration renewal notice to be effective.

The cost to someone who is injured in a motor vehicle accident can be significant when you consider the medical care and treatment costs that can be involved, and potential loss of income during recovery. In extreme cases, those who are injured can need expensive treatment for the rest of their lives.

To make sure injured parties of motor vehicle accidents are compensated irrespective of the financial position of the driver that caused the accident, it’s mandatory for all vehicle owners to take out CTP insurance before they’re able to register their vehicle.

You may nominate to change your CTP insurer at any time while your vehicle is registered, but the actual change of insurer will only come into effect from the commencement of the next period of registration.
Your CTP insurance will cover your vehicle as long as it’s registered. To cancel your CTP policy, you must first cancel your registration with Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR). Once deregistered, DTMR will provide you with a refund of the unused portion of the CTP premium.
No. CTP insurance is attached to the motor vehicle registration. The CTP insurance will be transferred to the new registered owner.
If your vehicle is deregistered due to a total loss or having been stolen, you’ll be entitled to a refund of any unused portion of your CTP premium.

Allianz no longer offers an At-Fault Policy to new or renewing customers with CTP insurance.

For customers who have applied for the At-Fault Policy cover before 12 AM on 1 July 2023, the At-Fault Policy will be available until their next renewal date*.

*For full terms and conditions of the At-Fault Policy, read the At-Fault Driver Policy Document.
