Nissan: Increased share

Nationwide last year, Nissan was the sixth most sold car brand in Australia, behind Hyundai and ahead of Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Sabura and Hondai. According to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), Nissan sold 67,926 cars in 2011, and car sales from this manufacturer have increased by 8.4% from the previous yeari. Statistics published by FCAI also reveal that Nissan’s latest model, the Nissan Navara was the 7th most sold car in 2011 and had a 2.4% growth from 21,171 vehicles in 2010 to 21,675 in 2011i.

he Nissan Navara continues to be a strong performer in the Pickup 4x4 segment.

Coming in second place in the Pickup 4x4 Segment - a category defined by the FCAI - the Nissan Navara has shown to be a strong competitor with total sales of the car model making up 20.2% (20,162) of all Pickup 4x4 cars soldii. Nissan also fared well with spots in the top three of two other FCAI-defined segments: the Nissan X-Trail came in third in the SUV Compact Segment and the Nissan Patrol Wagon ranked second in the Large SUV Segment.

Nissans pass road safety tests with great scores

Published results of safety trials carried out by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) confirm the high level of vehicle occupant protection Nissan models offer. ANCAP simulates and measures the level of passenger protection in the event of a collisioniii and rates vehicles on a scale of 1 to 5 stars (5 is the safest). While the Nissan Navara and Nissan Micra received a safety rating of 4 out of 5 in recent safety tests carried out by ANCAP, the Nissan Leaf achieved the best possible result in the side impact crash testiv and overall, scored the highest possible safety rating of 5v.
